Chile Immigration Contact Details

Chile's Servicio Nacional de Migraciones (SERMIG, National Migration Service) runs its immigration services through a set of official online portals and a network of regional offices, rather than a single public phone line or email address. This page lists the channels SERMIG's own site documents, so you can reach the right one directly.

Chile immigration authority contact channels

SERMIG (Servicio Nacional de Migraciones, Chile's National Migration Service) is the governing authority for residency, temporary-stay, and nationality matters. Its main site does not publish a general public phone number or email address; instead, it directs applicants to a set of dedicated online platforms.

  • Main portalserviciomigraciones.cl: navigation to the four immigration categories (Permanencia Transitoria, Residencia Temporal, Residencia Definitiva, Nacionalidad) and links to every other channel below.
  • Digital Procedures Portal (Portal de Trámites Digitales)tramites.serviciomigraciones.cl: where you file and manage residency, permanence, and nationality applications, log in with ClaveUnica or a site account, and pay fees.
  • Help Center (Ayuda Migraciones)ayuda.serviciomigraciones.cl: SERMIG's dedicated help/support site for procedural questions.
  • Appointment booking (Reserva tu hora)reservatuhora.serviciomigraciones.cl: used to schedule a free in-person appointment at a regional office; one appointment can be held at a time.

No phone number or email address for general public inquiries appears on SERMIG's site or its regional-offices listing. If a source documents one in the future, it will be added here — until then, use the Help Center or Digital Procedures Portal above.

Chile immigration regional offices

SERMIG maintains an in-person service office in each of Chile's 16 regions, listed on its official regional-offices page. All in-person service requires a prior appointment booked through Reserva tu hora above.

How to check your application status

SERMIG's Digital Procedures Portal is also the status-check mechanism, but the specific method differs by procedure type:

  • Residencia Definitiva (permanent residency): track the processing stage of your application through the Portal de Trámites Digitales. The automatic email confirming submission only proves the application was sent — it has no other legal validity.

  • Nacionalidad (naturalization): log in to the Digital Procedures Portal with ClaveUnica and open the "Consulta estado de trámite" (Procedure Status Query) section to see your application stage.

  • Residencia Temporal (temporary residence) and other categories: the DB does not document a separate named status-check page for these categories beyond the Digital Procedures Portal account dashboard used to file the application itself; if you need an update outside that dashboard, use the Help Center channel above.

For any residency category, Decreto 296 also requires SERMIG to report your application's processing stage and responsible unit by email at least every 60 business days.
