Foreigners who can apply for an investor visa in Argentina are those who plan to make a productive, commercial, or service investment of interest to the country, with a minimum amount of one million five hundred thousand pesos ($ 1,500,000).
The applicant must present the investment project to the National Immigration Office, proving the origin and legality of the funds, and their entry into the country, through banking or financial institutions authorized by the Central Bank of the Republic of Argentina.
Upon approval from the aforementioned Authority, the Ministry of Industry and Tourism will analyze the project and the execution period and will prepare a non-binding opinion, taking into account the nature of the investment.

Documents required to apply for an investor visa in Argentina
Documents required for all visas
- A valid passport with a minimum validity of 6 months from the date of entry into the country.
- Two current 4x4cm photographs, taken from the front, in color, with a white background.
- A completed visa application form, preferably in electronic form, signed by the applicant.
- Proof of habitual residence in the jurisdiction of the Consulate (utility bill or other supporting document).

To apply for an investor visa in Argentina, you need the following documents:
- Proof that verifies your commercial or work activity in your home country. This could be a work certificate with the company's letterhead.
- A round-trip ticket reservation.
- Hotel reservation or proof of accommodation in Argentina.
In addition, you may need to submit an invitation letter in paper format, which should:
- Be written in Spanish.
- Be addressed to the intervening consular authority.
- Contain all personal and contact details of the inviting person residing in Argentina: full name, ID number, address, landline or mobile phone number, and email address.
- Contain all details of the invited foreigner: full name, nationality, date of birth, passport type and number, landline or mobile phone number, email address, and any other contact details in the place of residence.
- Explain the purpose of the trip, the relationship between the inviter and the invitee, length of stay in Argentina, place of accommodation, and estimated arrival and departure dates.
- Indicate that the signatory is responsible for the foreigner's departure from the country when the authorized stay period expires.
What are the fees for the investor visa in Argentina
The cost of an investor visa application is $200, payable in US dollars or Euros, depending on the Consular Representation processing the application. This fee is payable in the local currency of the location where the Consular Representation is situated.

Yes. You can apply for an investor visa both outside Argentina and after arriving in the country. The application for residency by a foreigner not native to a MERCOSUR state can be made either abroad, by the interested party or their representative, before an Argentine consular or immigration authority with jurisdiction in the applicant's domicile, or within Argentine territory, by a representative, first-degree relatives of the applicant, or by a requester, before the National Immigration Office.
The processing time for the investor visa application is approximately 30 business days, starting from the date the file is generated. This timeline begins once the payment is confirmed. However, this timeframe is not specific as it depends on the the volume of applications.

Investor visa conditions
Yes. You can bring dependents or family members to Argentina together with you under an investor visa. Accepted family members are the spouse, children, or parents of the main visa applicatant. The children must be under 18 years old or older with a disability.
The duration of an investor visa in Argentina is up to three years (two years for Mercosur citizen). The visa is usually given for 1 year, and can be renewed. After three years (two years for Mercosur citizen), you must apply for permanent residency.

Investment visa renewal / Permanent residency
Yes. You can switch to a different visa type while residing in Argentina on an investor visa. The law states that foreigners can change their immigration category or subcategory without needing to leave Argentine territory. In order to do so, you need to qualify for the new visa category by providing all the required documents.
Yes. It is possible to renew this visa. You must renew it before it expires though. You can file the renewal application starting from 60 days before the expiry date, up to 10 days. If you are late, it is possible to renew the visa up to 30 days after the expiry date, paying an additional fee. After 30 days following the expiry date, it is no longer possible to renew a visa.
Yes for permanent residency. No for citizenship. You can apply for permanent residency in Argentina after two years (Mercosur citizen) or three years (citizens from non-Mercosur countries). For citizenship application, you must first be a permanent resident. There is no direct path to citizenship from temporary residency.
